48th Annual Eureka Springs Antique Auto Festival looking to set new attendance records in 2018
(April 15, 2018) When the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce changed venues and marketing initiatives last year for their annual antique auto festival, the successful results far exceeded their expectations. After flat attendance and declining car show entries for a number of years, the 2017 festival generated almost 250 car entries and more than 3500 attendees, a new record for the longest running car show in the Ozarks.
The annual Eureka Springs Antique Automobile Festival will return to The Great Passion Play to celebrate it’s 48th year September 7 and 8, 2018. The festival will continue to feature a parade of show cars through downtown Eureka Springs as part of the Great Bank Robbery re-enactment, held annually for over thirty years. Other improvements this year include a reduced entry fee for show cars and parade entries, wider variety of vendors, additional door prizes, new sponsors and more show related events to build traffic for local businesses.
“In addition to a venue change providing greater car display space and more free parking last year, we sought input from auto collectors, car club organizers and other communities driven by auto and motorcycle related tourism,” said Paul Miller, President and CEO of Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce. ”With their input and the support of local volunteers, we more than doubled attendance and vehicle registrations for this show, making it one of the most successful Chamber sponsored events in recent history. We generated over $2000 for ECHO Clinic, which we are very proud of,” added Miller.
The entry fee for show cars and parade participation has been reduced to $25 per car and a new “parade only” option is being introduced for only $10. A one-hour Sunset Cruise around Beaver Lake will leave the Great Passion Play at 5 p.m. on September 7, providing a wide variety of photo opportunities and cash prize. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will also be on-site for donations.

Local organizers making progress to create one of Mid-America’s Top 5 car shows
Eureka Springs, AR (June 27, 2017) – Organizers of the 47th Annual Eureka Springs Antique Car Festival retained local artist and metal sculptor, J.D. Harris, to design custom trophies for the top award winners on September 8-9 at the Great Passion Play. The trophies are hand-sculpted copper featuring elements of classic antique automobiles. Harris and his wife, Cathy, built the Art Colony on North Main in Eureka Springs when they first moved to Eureka Springs. The couple now operates the Harris Art Garden and Gallery, located on Hwy. 23 North. Car show organizer and local resident, Morris Dillow, commented, “We are planning a lot of improvements for the show this year. Our goal is to become one of Mid-America’s Top 5 car shows in the next five years with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and the CAPC.” Dillow added, “We have a moved the event to a much larger facility at the Great Passion Play due to the shows growing popularity. The new venue provides ample free parking for attendees, we’ll have a new professional judging panel, hand made trophies by J.D. Harris and more entertainment alternatives. We’ll also have a Red Cross blood donor opportunity to support the community.” The new venue and CAPC supported marketing initiatives have created more regional exposure and attracted new sponsors to the event, including Windle & Associates, Johnson Automotive, Little Apple Glass, Gaskins Switch and NAPA Auto Parts. Les Jacobs Ford returns as a primary sponsor of the festival. For more information and sponsorship details, visit www.Antiqueautofest.com or call the Chamber of Commerce at (479) 253-8737. |
